A Brief History of Toluca Lake

Toluca Lake is known as a wealthy neighborhood located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, CA. Toluca Lake is not only a neighborhood but an actual private natural lake fed by the Los Angeles River. Part of Toluca Lake spills over into nearby Burbank. According to an analysis of the Los Angeles Times 2000 census, Toluca Lake is an affluent, well-educated, older demographic neighborhood of L.A. Toluca Lake has a rich history which can be traced back to the Tongva Indians, followed by Spanish and Mexican occupation & development. It was part of the early rancho system and then later divided, with the neighborhood originally being known as Forman Toluca Ranch. In 1923, investors bought and developed the land as “Toluca Lake Park”.
In recent years the neighborhood has been the home of noted entertainment and other celebrities.
